Remembering a True Community Minded Hero
Here are two an excellent ESPN clips about the late Charleston Fire Captain Louis Mulkey. Captain Mulkey was, of course, a CFD Firefighter-but like many Firefighters, he did much more in the community. In this case, among other things, he was a Coach to kids...and the below link tells a wonderful story-well worth your time...both emphasizing what a good man he was...how good they all were...and how serious the lessons of that fire must be taken locally-and nationally. This superb film clip carries the impact of Firefighter LODD's to a level not often realized by many, but understood by those who are left behind. In this case, family, friends...and kids on a team. 

The 9 Charleston Firefighters who died in last year's Sofa Super Store fire will be honored in a memorial service June 18, the one-year anniversary of the tragedy. The service will begin at 10 a.m. in Gaillard Auditorium. Seating is limited in the auditorium and family and firefighters will be seated first. The service also will be shown on a closed- circuit television in the auditorium's exhibition hall.

As you know, killed in the Line of Duty at the fire were Louis Mulkey, Brandon Thompson, William "Billy" Hutchinson III, Mark Kelsey, James "Earl" Allen Drayton, Michael French, Melvin Champaign, Mike Benke and Brad Baity.
